With a view to accelerating progress of the health, population and nutrition (HPN) sector and addressing the challenges, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOH & FW), Government of Bangladesh (GOB) has been implementing the Health Population and Nutrition Sector Development Program (HPNSDP) for a period of five years from July 2011 to June 2016. After HPSP (1998-2003) and HNPSP (2003-2011), the HPNSDP is the third sector-wide program for overall improvement of health, population and nutrition sub-sectors. The priority of the program is to stimulate demand and improve access to and utilization of HPN services in order to reduce morbidity and mortality; reduce population growth rate and improve nutritional status, especially of women and children.
Under GoB’s HPNSDP (Health, Population and Nutrition, Sector Development Program) USAID and DFID funded this project (from July 2011-June 2016) for the partner NGOs. Under this NGO-Health Service Delivery Project (NHSDP), PKS delivered ESP (Essential Service Packages) services from fixed static clinics and satellite clinics to the catchment population by trained and skilled medical professionals (Doctors, Paramedic, Nurses, MA, FWV). The delivery centers were branded as ‘Surjer Hashi Clinic’. Total fixed Centers & Satellite clinic were 26 and 82. Among these facilities 4 were EOC (Emergency Obstetric Care) clinics. This project focus on service delivery and cost recovery simultaneously.
PKS is a regional based independent, nonpartisan, non-profit voluntary organization
